ANTI KNOCKING support kit for Thorens Turntable Spindle

Spring system to eliminate thorens motor rotor bouncing.
This kit fits all Thorens motor models series TD-145-146-147-160 165-166 and variants - TD125 Mk, MkII - TD 150 and MK II, TD 126, TD 126 Mk2. It is not suitable for TD 126 Mk3.

Due to time the Thorens motor bushings wear out and thus the rotor tends to bounce up and down causing a cyclic knock-knock noise.
With the introduction of this aluminium assembly, the problem can be solved in 99 % of cases.
Mounting is very simple. Degrease the metal underside of the motor with a cotton bud soaked in alcohol, then apply a small amount of cyanacrylate glue to the aluminium support surface, taking care that the glue does not go into the centre where the rotor is or into the threaded hole of the aluminium support.
Then glue the support and wait a few minutes.
Once the support is glued, take the metal grub screw and apply 1 drop of synthetic oil on the ball and screw the metal grub screw with the spherical part facing the motor using a 2mm Allen key (not supplied) until the noise disappears. Then tighten the nut so that the grub screw remains locked in the desired position. Do not over-tighten, otherwise the rotor will stop spinning.
On the inside of the grub screw is a ball with a spring, which, by constantly pressing down on the rotor axis, prevents the rotor from jumping.

Because the Thorens' motor is of the synchronous type, the diameter of the pulley is of fondamental importance. We guarantee the accuracy of the speed as our pulley is CNC machined to a tight tolerance. Besides, with our pulley it is possible to sort the mechanical problem caused by the belt sliding across the vertical surface of the pulley. In other words, changing the speed will be easier and smoother.
